How We Started
On April 3, 1995, a meeting was called by Pastor Charles E. Gibson to organize a ministry in the city of Moreno Valley. Twelve people attended this meeting. The vision of Pastor Gibson was shared at this meeting and was received in a great way. It was decided to lease an industrial building to congregate and to worship. After this was agreed upon a date was set for the first worship service.
From the Pastor
On May 7, 1995, the doors of the Breakthrough Church were opened and as many as One Hundred people come to celebrate the birth of a new and exciting church. As time evolved the ministry began to grow and organize, appointing members to the board of trustees and different auxiliaries. By November of 1995, the church had well grown to over one hundred members and counting. We have a seating capacity of 225 and every week the Church overflows the sanctuary.
As pastor of the Breakthrough Church of God in Christ, I am pleased to say we are part of one of the largest denominations in the world today better known as THE CHURCHES OF GOD IN CHRIST under the leadership of Bishop Gilbert Patterson, Bishop of C.O.G.I.C. Internationally, and Bishop Charles E. Blake, So. California First Jurisdiction. As an active member of the State Evangelist Board, I evangelized in the Churches of God in Christ for six years and have preached all over the country. God has continued to bless in that area as I now serve as the President of the State Evangelist Board.
However, the call to pastor, and found the Breakthrough Church was given to me in 1995 and I accepted with great anticipation. I am pleased to say that the Breakthrough Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the Inland Empire with well over several hundred members. |
